History & Vision

Genesis has seen tremendous growth since its inception in 1991.

Over the years, we have evolved from being solely a land developer, into a fully integrated developer and builder, with single-family, multi-family and commercial divisions. Genesis handles the full cycle of development - from raw land, to completed communities, across Western Canada. 

When Genesis purchases land, it’s always based on strategic location. As just one example, we used to own the land that the celebrated CrossIron Mills shopping centre was eventually built on. We took the land through the approvals process, before selling it off for development.

Moving forward as a public company, our mid-term goals include removing non-operating debt, becoming more efficient, increasing sales and increasing the velocity of sales. We will continue to bring forward new land, and add value by taking land through the approvals process

Longer term, Genesis is moving toward including more revenue-generating assets, such as residential rentals and commercial leases, into our asset mix, and to continue maximizing value from our lands. As we mature as a land developer, we want to retain recurring revenues from our existing land base by being a builder, as well as by renting out the units we build. It’s the next phase of our maturity as a full-cycle development company.
